Plot[]

Bear struggles to talk with Big's presence.

Cheese finds the experience stressful. Big says Cheese is going to talk to him.

Bone Thug Dog says he doesn't have to tell Big anything. He wants a lawyer and his grandma.

White Steve says he'll wear a wire if Big needs him to. None of it was his idea.

Elora tells Big she's not telling him anything.

INTERROGATION

Willie Jack says it started at Elder Breakfast.

Willie Jack gets to Auntie B and asks her for an extra fry bread. Auntie B says Willie Jack's not even an elder and should be serving her instead. Willie Jack looks over at Old Man Fixico and says she's on sacred duties. Auntie B gives her the extra fry bread.

Willie Jack tells Big she was at Elder Breakfast because Fixico's been teaching her. Most of the time, they hang out at the clinic or deliver groceries. She hasn't learned any spells yet, but she thinks it might be a wax on, wax off situation, so she shut up about it and went along with it.

Willie Jack sits down with Old Man Fixico and his friends. Wotko asks how it's going. Willie Jack says it's going well, but they mostly just sit around. The others laugh, saying Fixico is good at that. He says he's not young anymore like Willie Jack, so he needs to sit. Irene says back in the old says, Fixico used to drive nice cars. It was them, plus Bucky, Brownie, Mabel, and Chibon. Fixico freezes for a moment before agreeing. He tells Willie Jack that's his brother-cousin. He's still out there somewhere. Fixico always thought they'd make amends before one of them left. Willie Jack suggests going to talk to him, but it's complicated. Irene says that just means he's an Indian man.

Willie Jack helps clean up after the breakfast. Fixico gets up and struggles to talk for a moment before collapsing.

Big says he knew Fixico had a heart attack, but doesn't know where the bus comes in. Willie Jack says they needed wheels.

Kenny Boy talks to the teens, who need to borrow a car to kidnap Chibon, who is at a psychiatric hospital in Tulsa. Kenny Boy thinks it's a bad idea. It never ends well to take someone out of the hospital. He has some stipulations. First, they need more than a car.

Kenny Boy says they needed professionals.

Kenny Boy's second condition is that he's Uncle now. He makes them practice.

Kenny Boy brings over a bus and they all get on. He takes grease from the steering block and streaks it on his face. They pull away. The engine backfires as they pull out of the lot.

Ansel talks to Bone Thug Dog. Behind them, Cheese tells White Steve about Godzilla. At the back of the bus, Weeze hits the back of Bear's head. Elora tells Willie Jack she's proud of her. Usually, they're doing petty crime to benefit themselves, but this is more meaningful. Willie Jack says it is. She admits she's worried about Fixico. She didn't get to spend enough time with him. That's how Elora felt when her grandmother died. She keeps thinking about her grandmother being around and how she could have sat down with her and didn't. That's why Willie Jack thinks it's good to keep the elders around. They're always learning from them, even just sitting there. Willie Jack promises to be by Elora's side if she goes first. Elora says the same for Willie Jack. They hug. Kenny Boy pulls into the hospital parking lot and welcomes them to Tulsa.

THE PLAN

Bear pulls out the hospital layout, which Cheese drew. While he's talking about finding the plan online, Willie Jack realizes he drew the layout of the wrong hospital. Bear crumbles the paper and says it's the same plan. White Steve and Bone Thug Dog go to the front desk and pretend to have a tour with the manager.

White Steve says they're never going to believe them.

Jackie and Elora tie on masks and go to cut the phone lines. Since they don't know what phone lines look like, Cheese joins them.

Weeze is posted by the front door to distract the security guard. If he sees the cops, he has to scream as loud as he can to alert them.

Bear and Willie Jack will find Chibon's room, grab him, and get out. They realize they don't know what he looks like. Cheese wonders what they do if he doesn't want to go. Willie Jack didn't think about that. They're all sure he'll want to leave. Bear says they have it because they're the Rez Dogs. Bone Thug Dog, White Steve, Weeze, and Jackie remind him they're the NDN Mafia. Bear asks them to join and they can all be Rez Dogs. They decide to do it and they all celebrate together. Ansel and Kenny Boy stop their celebration and ask what their jobs are. Bear says they just have to stay on the bus and wait, so they're ready to get away quickly. They all make excuses for why Ansel and Kenny Boy shouldn't come in then get psyched back up to go at it.

EXECUTION

Bone Thug Dog and White Steve go to the front desk, where they claim to have an appointment with management to do a tour. They're writing an article for an assignment.

Willie Jack and Bear enter the hospital.

The receptionist asks the other staff if they know anything about a tour and no one does. She asks what exactly they want to do. She asks if they have a card and White Steve hands over a card. It's a Rob-n-Cleo's catfish club card and he's handwritten on the back.

Bear and Willie Jack look a patient files outside the doors, but can't find any Indians.

Cheese, Elora, and Jackie have opened the panel for the phone lines. Cheese says that's it. Elora's worried about blowing up the building or getting electrocuted.

The receptionist offers to call management.

Elora cuts the line.

The receptionist says the phone lines are down again. She says she'll give them a quick tour and then they should go.

Elora, Cheese, and Jackie are relieved that nothing bad happened.

Willie Jack finds a patient file that says Fixico. The first name is Maximus. She doesn't think it's him, but Bear recognizes the name Maximus and says it's him. They enter the room.

Bear tells Maximus it's him. Maximus asks what he's doing there. Willie Jack says they came because of Fixico. He says he's Fixico. Bear and Willie Jack realize they don't know Old Man Fixico's first name. They say it's Maximus's cousin-brother and Maximus asks what he wants. They tell him he's not doing well. That's why they're there, to break him out. Maximus laughs at the thought. They don't have to break him out. He can leave anytime he wants. He says because he needs to. Bear remembers them coming to take him. He says that happens every six months or so. He goes off his meds and gets a little crazy, so they bring him back and get him back on his meds. He stabilizes until he does it again. He's choosing to be at the hospital. It's like a paid holiday for him. He hasn't talked to his cousin in a long time. Willie Jack says it's time to put the bad stuff behind them because he won't be around for much longer. Maximus waves them off, but Willie Jack says they got robbed of their feelings, the elders. Now they can't even admit to having them. She's sorry for what he went to, but the young people know things too. She'd give anything to see Daniel again. Fixico just wants to see him again and he's there being stubborn. She tells Bear it's time to go, but Maximus says he'll go with them.

Maximus, Willie Jack, and Bear run into Weeze and Bone Thug Dog, who are still on their tour. Maximus tells the receptionist he's checking out. She asks how long he'll be leaving for this time. He says he doesn't know, so she gives him the paperwork. Bear says their friends think they're busting him out, so they want him to act like they did.

Ansel, Kenny Boy, Jackie, Elora, and Cheese are waiting by the bus. They watch as the others approach with Maximus hidden under Bone Thug Dog's jacket, looking over their shoulders. They load up onto the bus.

Big doesn't believe Willie Jack, but she tells him it's the truth. They went to the hospital to get Uncle. He asks what about the bus.

SMOKE SIGNALS

Kenny Boy tells the teens he's proud of them. He likes being their getaway driver. The engine starts giving off smoke and he stops the bus and tells everyone to get off. As they exit the bus, it explodes into a fireball behind them. Kenny Boy calls for them to split up and they start running.

Kenny Boy tells Big he can just walk away. Big says he's tired of all the crimes they do. He's trying to clean the streets up. Kenny Boy asks what crime even is. Big says it's a misdemeanor, so they're all getting tickets. Kenny Boy says he's not going to do that. They were taking care of an elder, so he can't let Big. He takes full responsibility for all of it. He says the kids weren't even there. It was just him and Ansel. Big tells him the kids need to pay for their crimes, too. Kenny Boy says they're good kids and he can't let them take the heat. This is what they do. They show up for each other.

Bear, Jackie, Bone Thug Dog, White Steve, Weeze, Cheese, Elora, Wotko, Willie Jack, and Irene wait outside Old Man Fixico's room. Inside the room, Maximus sits by Fixico's bedside and holds his hand.

Kenny Boy tells Big he's been sober since they were tied up in the woods. Big says they've been through a lot.

Big tells Bear to push the spacebar to play the video. When it plays a video of Bev playing with her gum, Bear is confused. Big slaps the laptop closed.

Cheese watches a video of the Rez Dogs stealing the chip truck. He says it's a deep fake.

Elora says it's not them. The criminals have their faces covered.

Willie Jack says it's not her.
