Friday is the fourth episode of the third season and 22nd episode overall of Reservation Dogs.
Synopsis[]
The Rez Dogs get punished for going to California.
Plot[]
Clinton calls out numbers in Bingo while a bored-looking Rita sits next to him. Clinton makes a joke, but Rita isn't amused. Bone Thug Dog, White Steve, and Weeze are playing. As Clinton calls the next number, Rita gets up and leaves, saying she has things to do. Clinton leads the crowd to boo her as she walks out. Clinton asks if someone is getting close to winning and shows off the prize they get when they do, six cans of tuna and a NARDS shirt.
Old Man Fixico smokes outside. Big sees him looking up and asks what he's looking at. Fixico says he feels rain coming on. Big says his weather predictor is broken.
Bev, Rita, and Leon confront Bear, Elora, Willie Jack, Cheese, and Jackie. Bev says when they speak, they have to say their names and follow it with, "And I'm a shitass." Cheese immediately does this and Willie Jack chastises him for it. Leon gives Elora a roll of trash bags and tells her she's on trash duty. Bear and Jackie are assigned to sweep and mop the floors. When they question it, Bev and Rita tell them it's their punishment for leaving for California without telling anyone. Bear says nothing bad happened. Rita says they ran off, got carjacked, and Bear won't tell her how he got home. He says that Deer Lady brought him, but Rita doesn't believe him. Jackie doesn't understand why she's there because she didn't go to California. Bev says she's a bad influence and she's probably done other things that Bev doesn't know about and Bev didn't punish her for the first time she ran off. Jackie doesn't think that's fair, but Bev says she can do what she wants because she pays for Jackie's lifestyle. Cheese asks what his punishment is and Leon says he and Willie Jack are going to clean the graffiti at the front entrance. Willie Jack says that's her masterpiece. Leon tells the kids if they screw around, they'll be back tomorrow. He sends the kids off to work.
Cheese scrubs the wall while Willie Jack watches. She checks on Fixico, who is sitting quietly and he tells her that a lot of rain is coming. When she looks at the sky, he says he means metaphorically.
Elora collects the trash in the bathroom. Leon comes in with a cart and tells her to put the bags in the cart once they're tied off. Then she can take them out to the dumpster. He asks if she's happy to be home. They had an adventure. She says it was. She's glad they got to do something for Daniel. Leon knows Daniel appreciated it. He's grounding Willie Jack until she hits menopause, but he's glad they went. It's what they were supposed to do. Elora agrees.
Big is watching a UFO video while waiting on an exam table naked from the waist down. Bev opens the curtain and he yells at her to close it.
Clinton continues calling Bingo numbers. Nearby, Bear and Jackie are sweeping the floor when they find a tooth. Jackie asks if Bear really met Deer Lady and he says he did. He thought she was going to kill him at first, but she gave him apple pie. Jackie doesn't believe him. Bear says that wasn't even the craziest part of his trip. He whispers in her ear about Star People, eggplants, and meeting a conquistador.
Bev watches Jackie and Bear from the desk and tells Rita she hopes Rita's ready to be a grandma. Rita looks and says they're just friends. And she's too young to be a grandma. Bev says her grandma was Rita's age or maybe even younger.
Jackie tells Bear he's insane and he's lucky no one heard what he just said. She thinks he's lying.
Rita dismisses the possibility of Jackie and Bear dating, but Bev thinks it's happening.
Jackie and Bear bicker over the cleaning.
Willie Jack watches as Mose and Mekko come to Old Man Fixico for medicine. They need protection from haters online. Fixico gives them medicine and instructions how to use it. Once they're gone, Willie Jack asks how he always know what to give people. He says he doesn't. He just gave Mose and Mekko stinkweed. They always ask him for something and he always gives them stinkweed. Cheese announces that he's done, but Willie Jack says it's not done. He admits he can't see it very well, but it looks done to him. Willie Jack holds up her hand and asks him how many fingers she's holding up. He gets it wrong both times. Willie Jack reminds him he was supposed to get glasses. He says they said he needed them, but they never sent them. Willie Jack tells him he has to pick them up. She sends him in to get his glasses and some chocolate while she continues cleaning.
Leon tells Elora he's the heart and soul of IHS. Without him, it would fall apart. He designed it that way. The only bad part is that he can't quit unless he finds a successor. He wants Elora to do that. She's surprised. He says he needs a matriarch to take over. She says he's busy. She had a job that she left to go to California, but she's been thinking about going to school. She hasn't really thought about where she'd go. He says if she goes to Okern Community College, she can work for him in the afternoons. That's how he got started. She says maybe. He says there are benefits to the job and opens a vending machine. He offers her flaming flamers, but she says she's trying to quit.
Leon and Elora sit down with their snacks.
Clinton is still calling Bingo numbers. White Steve gets a Bingo and celebrates. Clinton gives him the NARDS shirt and he puts it on right away. Clinton paints on his face with the dabber.
Natalie is recording herself on her phone when Cheese comes in. She asks him to film her dancing. Once she's done, she asks if he's there for chocolate and he says he's actually there to pick up his glasses. She asks him where he went. He got his eyes dilated and never came back. He didn't know how things worked. She heard he went to California. He tells her about their trip and says he's glad to be home. She finds his glasses and gives them to him. He opens the bag and tries them on. He's pleased with them.
Elora cleans the front desk while Bev watches. Bev tells her she missed a spot. Big comes to the desk and says it felt violating to have Bev walk in on him. Bev asks if he shaves down there or if his blood quantum is just that high. He shushes her and reminds her that it's supposed to be confidential. Bev says he's making their people proud, which pleases him. They flirt back and forth and he sets up his next appointment. After he's gone, Bev asks Elora if she heard all that. Elora says no and Bev says she missed out on some important teachings. She asks if Elora has learned her lesson on being a runaway yet. Elora says she's 18 and she could leave for California again if she wanted to. She asks Bev if she can get her records because she's thinking about going to school. She thinks she might learn psychology there. Bev prints them out and sends Elora to the window down the hall to get them.
At the window, a woman gives Elora her documents in an envelope. Elora opens them and sees that her father is Rick Miller.
Willie Jack brings Fixico snacks. He says he'll miss things like meat pies. When she questions where he's going, he says he knows his time is coming. She wonders who will doctor people up when he's gone. He doesn't know because there's no one to pass it onto. She says she's interested. She's at IHS all the time with her meat pies. She could do both. He says it's real medicine, so she has to be serious. She says she's serious when she wants to be. He says she has to ask three times, so she repeats the question three times. He anoints her, but admits he's teasing. She asks how they start. He says just sit there and he'll let her know when the time is right.
Cheese runs into Elora and asks if he looks weird. She says he looks different, but it's good. He says he has mixed feelings about his feelings.
Willie Jack asks what she could take to be quiet so she can practice her assassin moves. Fixico tells her to watch some Jackie Chan movies. Bear and Jackie come outside and tell Willie Jack they're done. Bear asks if she wants to go to Sonic. She asks Fixico if she can go and he says yes. Elora and Cheese join them and they all joke with Cheese about his glasses.
